December season – Chennai music festival 2015
Chennai at it’s hight of the music festivity could receive thousands from abroad in December. 2015 was special: I arrived weeks later than scheduled because the unprecedented flooding in Chennai led to rising water levels at the airport and flights had to be cancelled. The Chennai music season lost the usual charme with the cancellation of hundreds of concerts. In spite of the floods I could still perform at the Tamil Isai Sangam and Krishna Gana Sabha. A very special event took place under those unusual circumstances: My Guru Sri T V Gopalkrishnan was awarded “Sangitha Kalanidhi” at the Madras Music Academy. The auditorium was packed and it was a truly international affair.
